Flash Flood

Given the recent humid and hot weather, we were fortunate to be blessed with a huge downpour just the day before yesterday.

Yet the downpour didn't came without consequences. With the poor drainage system planning over in Pandan Indah, we were faced with a flash flood.

On that fateful day, I was driving back from Midvalley with my sister. Imagine my anxiety when I saw those rapidly rising water going to levels beyond the height of the pavements lining the roads. It was so bad I think it went to heights of my tyres.

We weren't exactly trained in our driving lessons on what to on a flash flood. All I could do was drive as slow as I could. At the same time, I was really worried that my car would breakdown as like the Kancil below.

Luckily, that did not happen to my precious car. And so we were back safe and sound.

The downpour seemed to fill my bladder too. So as soon as I reached home, I decided to pay the toilet a visit. I saw bubbles coming out from the Hole. This reminded me of a news I read in the newspaper some time ago.

It was about this person who discovered a snake in the Hole. Worried, I flushed the water once just to be safe. (Surely I wouldn't want to be bitten by a snake when my butt is firmly glued to the toilet seat, right? Who knows where it will decide to bite ?)

Anyways, instead of entering the Hole, the water rose to the extent of almost overflowing. I think it was caused by the rain.

Luckily I wasn't doing my business that day. If not, it would have been oh so gross.

All for Nothing

Thanks to cr4zyb3autiful I got to do the whole bloody layout all over again !

Joking.

Indeed I didn't know my lousy html skills made my blog looked different in different browsers. Thanks for the feedback.

Gosh did my blog looked horrendous.

Haih, my 2 days of effort without sleep has been put into waste.

Anyways, problem resolved finally ! I hope ?

How does it look ?

I'm sure most of you would have noticed that I've change the layout of my blog.

As I'm an amateur in this html thingy,(obviously) there seems to be lots of problems with its layout. It looks completely different in different computers. So far Naoki has complained twice already.

Anyways, I've taken screenshots of how it looks in my desktop and laptop. Now what I need is feedback from you guys. (Kindly grant me a minute or two of your precious time to leave a comment or a message in the Gossip Box)

Screenshot A

Senget to the right

When only a particular post is viewed. As in web address contains post title. For eg: http://m00nie.blogspot.com/2008/01/ how-does-it-look.html#links

Please indicate whether it looks like 'Screenshot A' or 'Screenshot B' in your respective computers. If it doesn't look like both of the above, then kindly indicate 'other'.

In category 'other', should you not mind please do also describe the problem. For example: page load halfway or can't see certain portion of the page. (You must be saying: 'Why lah so mafan?' Sorry lo, too free already)

Of course, for those nice people out there who would like to educate me on the reason of these problems, please feel free to do so.

Thank you.

Can you believe it ?

Note: Post may contain images that are a wee bit graphical.

Was watching Channel E!'s 'Forbes's 20 Under 25: Rich, Young and Famous'. And guess what ? Daniel Radcliffe's 6th in the countdown, earning a whooping $15 million in 2007.

How crazy is that ?

From a normal little boy born in England,

He was shot into stardom and richness when he took on the role as Harry Potter. All thanks to J.K. Rowling.
For those who have never heard of Harry Potter, where the hell have you been ?

And now, 8 years later, he is a millionaire and a MAN.

It's like living a dream. Earning cold, hard cash I could only dream of, and starring in Harry Potter. I mean HARRY POTTER ! How cool is that ?

To be a hard core fan of someone and to play the role ? All these while getting paid for it. It's pure SIN alright.

Daniel sure made a loud statement that he was no longer an innocent boy in 2007. What with his baring performance in Equus.

Equus is a play written by Peter Shaffer, narrating the story of a psychiatrist's attempt to treat a young man who has pathological religious/sexual fascination with horses. In the play, Daniel plays Alan Strang, a stable boy with an obsession with horses.

It seems that the play was gonna be a disturbed and graphical one. This genre of production never fails to leave me feeling miserable. It has pornography written all over it. Call me conservative, but I certainly do not have senses to such 'art'.

The fact that he decided to take on such a play has certainly tarnished the image he had in me. He is no longer the person I believe him to be when he was Harry Potter. Although I cannot help but to admit he sure looked steamingly hot in those photo shoots.

What do you think ?

He went on to star in December Boys, a film about a bunch of orphanage boys growing up behind the closed doors of a catholic convent in outback Australia. The kind of movie I don't think I'd ever watch.

Doesn't he look so different here ?

This is a picture of him in his role John Kipling in My Boy Jack.

It seems that his career as an actor is gonna be a bright one. But nevertheless, I still miss my Harry Potter. Just like I miss my Britney Spears in 'Baby One More Time'.

Oh by the way, this trailer is hilarious !

扫兴

扫兴
: (Canto: Shou Heng) means an act which makes a particular situation unhappy. And sad to say, I'm an expert at it.

During the weekend, I decided to go on a little trip to Genting with my friends, the Confucian clan. Truth to be told, I was never a fan of it as I am darn broke. Nevertheless, Wai Kiat and I traveled to Genting by the 6pm Genting Express on Friday. Point to be noted about Genting Express is, they are sure punctual. I mean really, REALLY punctual. The driver wouldn't wait even for a second.

There was this guy pleading for the bus driver to wait a while, as his friend was yet to come. But the driver was certainly not a tolerant one. He left despite the many pleas from the poor guy.

So we reached the peak around
7.30 pm and had dinner @ a Chinese restaurant called 'Tong Lo Wan'. (Causeway Bay) Anyways, the food was super expensive. Guess how much a normal 'Yong Chau' fried rice cost me ? A bloody RM 15.90. I think it would normally cost around RM 8.90 back at KL. One dinner and I'm RM 20 ++ poorer.

~Wai Ling, Foong Yee, Lye Quan and Me~

Later, we walked around the area (First World to Genting and back) and settled down at the hotel, awaiting the return of those who went for the Jackie Cheung concert. When they returned, we got into little chats and went to bed. Boring huh ? I tried to engage them into longer conversations, but none bothered to respond. Poor me.

Guess which is mine ?

Sleeping was a torture to me. I'm no good at sharing beds. I just feel so restricted. Like I dare not move, afraid to wake the person beside me. Thus, I stayed awake through the night.

Quite expectedly, I was left tired and drowsy the second day. Even so, I got my lazy butt up and went exploring around with my friends.

Wai Kiat and Kar Weng

We went bowling, into the casino and tried rock climbing. It was only RM 4 a climb, inclusive of equipments. That, I reckon was a steal. Anyways, take a look yourself.

Wei Jie warming up be4 the climb

Me getting ready for the climb

Above was the highest I managed. I did not lose my grip or fell but I gave up. It wasn't because I was too tired or something, just that I couldn't find the next firm grip to elevate myself up. So, I let myself drop. It was pretty cool and scary actually, just letting go and jump down.

But before I jumped, I managed to strike a pose.

After that, we really had nothing to do. It wasn't an organized trip and there is actually nothing much to do in Genting. I can't say I was pissed off. But you know, I had this feeling of sick of not knowing what to do plus I was tired and so I said I was going back to the hotel to sleep.

I know, all the way up to Genting just to sleep ? It was pretty 扫兴.

I am always like that I noticed. I don't know whether my absence made a difference but I think it certainly does make an impact. I guess I should learn to get a hold of myself.

It's snowing in Genting Hotel !
~Effect of using flash on a cold day~

So I had my sleep and later had dinner with them. I think the dinner was the most worthwhile dinner in Genting. It was at Be a Star karaoke. They had this offer, where depending on the meal you choose, cheapest RM 15 nett and most expensive RM 20 nett, you get a meal, a drink and 2 hours of karaoke. Quite a deal, right?

After the karaoke session, those who went for the Jacky Cheung concert decided to go for another session.

Hard core Jacky Cheung fans
~Lye Quan, Wei Jie and Foong Yee~

This time standing on the bridge outside the Arena of Stars. Crazy right ? They actually stood there through the whole concert.

That pretty much sums up the trip. Had fun getting to know someone new, Lye Quan's friend, Foong Yee and the quality time I spent with my friends of 7 years.

OMG, I'm spoilt !

I just realized that I am workaphobic. For days I've been procrastinating over signing up with Kelly Services in pursue of a part-time job. I need the job to recover the money
I stole from dad I spent on a new phone.

The thought of having to take the public transport early in the morning, working with people I don't know simply gives me the blues.

Often, the TV gives us examples of rich brats who are unwilling to earn a single penny by themselves. Before this, I couldn't understand their rationale. How hard could working be ? All I could say was they are just spoilt.

On the same note, my mother often relates to me on her blues about going to work, how she wished for the holidays to come sooner or to last longer. She would say to me: studying is much better than working. I thought to myself, how bad can working possibly be ? You don't have sit for exams, you don't have to pass up your homework, you don't have to wear uniform, you don't have to endure an hour long of assembly and you don't have to listen to boring lectures.

Well after experiencing the working world, I could really understand her Monday blues now. Indeed it isn't a nice feeling, but sooner or later I'd have to face it. Besides, what do I have to do at home anyway ? I don't have to do chores and I don't have to be a nanny to my sister.

So what have I been doing ? Sleeping at crazy hours, playing Diablo II and watching movies & drama series ! Nothing productive at all. I don't even bother to pack and organize my mounting notes and text books.

I'm such a spoilt brat.

Note to self:

If you desire a change, be prepared to make the effort and step out of your comfort zone.
Sitting around hoping for miracle is being sheer stupid.

Being better

Just a couple of months ago, I had the chance to attend an awards presentation ceremony at my university. Many including my classmates walked up the stage to receive their respective awards.

Sometimes I cannot help but wonder, how come that person is never me ?

I know this is being rather 不知量力 (not knowing your capabilities to hope for something), but for once I hope to be someone to be looked upon, someone to be proud of when associated with, someone that I'm satisfied with.

Of course, I do also know that I do not deserve these things, as I have not given sufficient effort for it. I'm just really frustrated with myself. How come I am never determined enough ? I am always regretting but still continues to repeat the same mistake.

Sometimes I'd hope that I can be better. Better at associating with others, better at recognizing roads, better in being spontaneous, better in grasping points ie being a quick learner.

It took me a while to realize this, and I can't believe it's from a Christian song I've been listening through childhood.

'God gives us different kinds of people,
God gives us every single ones,
God gives us different kinds of people,
With the gift to get the job done.'

I guess different people are meant for different things. Every job has its equal importance.

I should learn to stop being envious.

G'dye from WA, Perth (Finale)

This will be the last post on my trip to Aussie Land. ~Thank God~

Well, it could have easily been Part 7. But sadly, one of my days in Australia was left blanked as I was asleep almost the whole day through due to reasons mentioned previously.

Surprisingly enough, I awoke this fateful day excited to return to my homeland. I was homesick. Australia was great, but nothing beats the comfort of home. And of course, people I miss dearly back home made it no easier. (~Hint hint~ *BC*)

So the day started with me doing a little last minute packing and then we were off to explore the city of Perth for the last time.

Fremantle seems to be MsRedd's fave, as she suggested that we visit Fremantle again. Being the passenger, and she the driver, of course I had no say whatsoever. Joking !

We visited the Fremantle Market.

From the picture above, I think it is established that it's certainly the high-class version of our Malaysian markets.

It's kinda like a large flee-market. There were fruit stores, crafts, souvenirs, apparel, skin-care products, etc ... I got myself some fragrances, moisturizers and a scarf, which I have no idea whether I would ever use it, what with the weather in Malaysia.

Look at the fruits, mmm how juicy.

They even have a massage centre here.

Don't know how long has it been since I last had pancakes.

After some shopping and breakfast, we left for the Fremantle prison.

As prices to visit the prison was pretty pricy (after conversion of course), we just took pictures outside the prison instead.

I was at the right place at the wrong time. The prison offers this torchlight tour, where you would visit the prison at night ! And it's so my THING ! Too bad it's my last day here.

Spooky huh ? ~I totally lurve it ~

~Haih~

Anyways, there is a souvenir shop just before the entrance into the prison.

And I saw this really cute thing.

Let me out !

Uniform

Warning

Next destination:

An ugly pose

I seriously don't know why I did that stupid 'peace' sign

Next stop: Subiaco

Nothing special about the City of Subiaco. Just like any other streets lined with retail stores designed to cheat you of your money.

Saw a cool name for a household item store though.

Just before we leave for our last dinner in Australia, the cowzens and I decided to indulge ourselves in some camwhore moments.

~Aaah~

I reckon this was the best jumping picture we snapped

Perverted gymnast in action

We were really having the time of our lives.

We even did an impersonation of Abbey Road.

In case you don't know, Abbey Road is one of the albums of The Beatles.

There you go

All in all, the trip had been a great one for me. I experienced several emotions during the course of the trip. Of:

Being a family

On the 2nd day of the trip, during the dinner with my cowzens, we had a heart-to-heart conversation about the recent changes in my life. Finally, I felt like we were a family again. Haven't felt like that for some time now.

I could feel their sincere concern for my feelings. I had never known that these events had such a huge impact in my life. To be honest, I was on the verge of tearing.

They provided me with new insights into approaching my problems, and I'm really grateful for that.

Moment of anxiety

Remember the day I was forced to stay at the apartment ? So I woke up in the afternoon to find myself alone in the apartment. I was bored to death and had a huge urge to drink chocolate milk. But they have taken the door card. So I couldn't leave the apartment.

Desperate, I did something shamefully stupid. I took a plaster and stick it at the door attachment, hoping it'll work. And guess what ? Of course it didn't work! And I was left locked outside.

You could imagine my anxiety. All alone, sick and no where to go. Luckily, I remembered hearing something about my aunt not going out while I was asleep. And after a few door knocks, I was glad to meet my aunty.

Happiness

Who could ever thought that my happiest day was actually the last day I was in Australia ? It was this day that I truly had fun. Yea, the camwhore session was certainly a 3G (3rd generation) bonding opportunity. Even now, each time I look at those pictures, it never fails to draw a smile on my face.

That's all folks !

G'dye from WA, Perth (Part 5)

To sum this day up in one word, it would be
Luxury.

This time around, we wanted to truly experience the Australian life. Therefore, we took the bus instead of driving. (Actually cause there wasn't much parking at our destination)

In this little city of
Perth, they have shuttle buses completely free of charge. Funny thing though, they name this buses red cat, blue cat and etc ... you get the gist.

Train station along the way

After a change of 2 buses, we were finally at the jetty again. Where are we going this time ?
Why, we're going on a cruise trip.

Cruise along Swan River

We were an hour and a half early. So we had nothing to do but to sit around.

MsRedd snoozing

Finally, we got ourselves the tickets.

And boarded the M.V. Lady De Vine.

This time, we were smart enough to escape from being photographed by the blood-sucker. The last time we boarded the ferry to Rottnest, the photograph taken cost AUD 10 each. Which sums up to almost RM 30 !

Anyway, the Lady De Vine may look like any other ferry from the outside. But, in the inside, there is some certain touch of luxury to it.

The package we took includes a lunch buffet and free flow of soft drinks & wine ! Being the kiamsiap person as I am, of course I drank as much as I could.
I drank almost half a bottle of wine.

And I regretted it.

Clockwise: Cheryl, MsRedd, Malikuti, Jon, Kevin, Sue Yee and me

Soon, my face was blazing red, my body developed rashes and I started having headaches.

And then after the trip, the urge to puke consumed me. Ultimately, my head was burning with fever and I was forced to stay at the apartment the next day. Consequently, I missed Margaret River! Talk about being greedy.

Vineyard

The ultimate motive for traveling on the cruise was to visit the Swan Valley Winery.

In the wine cellar, there was a brief introduction on the various wine sold at the winery. After that, we were given the opportunity to taste an assortment of wines.

Do you know that they have chocolate flavored wines ? That's new, at least to me.

The trip back was pretty mundane and I fell asleep.

I was awoken by a sudden blast of music. I looked around to find one of the crew performing.

At first, I had actually thought that it's the radio broadcasting but in fact it was the crew performing live. Yes, her singing was really that good.

She sang a good few songs and ended the performance with 'La Bamba'.

The crowd even joined in. It was so wonderful.

Tune in for the last part of G'dye from WA, Perth.
